Pound the Pavement for Peter has become a highly anticipated family event in Brookhaven. This 5K family fun run was started in 2009 in honor of Peter Hopkins, child of Brookhaven residents Anne Park and Matt Hopkins, who lost his life at age 3 after suffering from a Peroxisomal Disorder (PBD). This event is held to raise awareness and funds to help families and children with disabilities and debilitating diseases.
This year the proceeds from the race will fund 3 critical areas to help these families to have hope and realize potential for their children – Research, Medical Care and Inclusion in Education. We cannot think of a better way to honor Peter’s memory and support other children like Peter as these charities greatly enhance the lives of children with severe disabilities.
For additional information on each of these recipients, please feel free to visit their websites at:
• Global Foundation for Peroxisomal Disorders (www.thegfpd.org)
• The Adaptive Learning Center (www.alckids.org)
• Medically Complex Care Program at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (www.choa.org).
Thank you for helping to continue to honor Peter and so many children like him through this race, and we hope to see you there! Please visit www.poundthepavementforpeter.com to register and for more details. Feel free to contact us at email@example.com if you have any questions.
