To take special care of our community, HBNA has several committees to allow board members and neighbors to be involved utilizing their best skillset to match the mission of each committee. The CM&E committee oversees all of the Historic Brookhaven Common Areas including the triangles, micro-parks, and monuments throughout the neighborhood with the mission to maintain and enhance these areas.
Recent key accomplishments include the cleanup of two major parks in the neighborhood, Mayson Ravine and Vermont Park as well as work performed on Lakehaven and East Brookhaven Parks.
This is a great committee for those who like to play in the dirt.
The transportation committee is responsible for any issues involving roads, curbs, drainage basins, and sidewalks. It also deals with traffic (pedestrian and road). The respective city governments (Atlanta and Brookhaven) are the true responsible parties, however, the transportation committee serves as a liaison for areas of concern and attempts to resolve any issues in a more effective timeline.
The zoning committee consists of two separate committees (Atlanta/Fulton and Brookhaven/DeKalb ) that oversee issues involving development, rezoning, variances, special use permits, and appeals within and surrounding the HBNA community. The applicant/representative presents the request to the Committee and citizen comment is solicited at this time. The committees then forward its recommendations to the HBNA Board for a vote. HBNA's recommendation are forwarded to the NPU-B (Atlanta /Fulton County) and City of Brookhaven (DeKalb County) as appropriate.
The events committee is responsible for coordinating the annual street party, scheduling and advertising the general membership meeting, and scheduling meeting speakers. This committee also greets new neighbors and plans the new neighbor party. For current events and community calendar, click here.
The communication and membership committee is responsible for all issues regarding its members including maintaining the member database, invoicing, printing the directory, maintaining the website, and the committee acts as a liaison between all sponsored member related clubs and groups.
The sponsorship committee reviews all requests to sponsor HBNA events. Sponsorships are a great way for residents to promote their business within the community.
Filming
The filming committee creates guidelines for neighbors to accommodate commercial and film productions within the borders of Historic Brookhaven. They also are the point of contact for information regarding current filming, road closures, etc. The filming guidelines can be viewed here.
The safety committee researched and proposed the LPR technology for the neighborhood and oversees the installation. They are the liaison between local law enforcement and HBNA when required. For more on the cameras and LPR's in the neighborhood, click here.
